Artist in Primary School Scheme 2026

The Tipperary Artist in Primary School Scheme 2026 is now OPEN

The scheme provides funding to a professional artist of any discipline to work in a school for 50 hours on a project designed collaboratively between the school and the artist. The quality and diversity of the work that has been created by Tipperary students working with artists has been outstanding. The scheme provides opportunities for children to access and to engage with an artist and the language of creativity at an early age; and for schools and teachers to work collaboratively across curriculum areas.

Closing Date: 12 noon, Friday, 6th February, 2026

What is Eligible:

Projects funded in 2026 must take place within the following timeframes: March – June 2026 or September–December 2026. This scheme is open to applications from all primary schools in Tipperary. Please note that schools that have been successful in their application for the scheme in 2024 and 2025 are ineligible to apply under the 2026 scheme. Artists must be Garda Vetted by the Arts Office before projects can commence.

A clear project proposal which sets realistic objectives helps to inform the selection decision. The selection of projects is by an independent selection panel and will be on a competitive basis as we always receive more applications than resources available to meet demand.

The scheme is open to art projects in all art forms including visual arts, music, dance, drama, literature, film, photography, architecture and new media. Artists directing the scheme must be professional artists with experience in working with young people.

We welcome applications by email to artsgrants@tipperarycoco.ie or by post to the Arts Office, Tipperary County Council, Civic Offices Limerick Road, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.
