The Community Recognition Fund aims to support the development of community infrastructure and facilities in recognition of the contribution being made by communities across the country in welcoming and hosting significant numbers of arrivals from Ukraine and other countries.

2024 Community Recognition Fund -Window 3 Funding

Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD has today announced funding of €404,317.30 for 8 community groups across Co. Tipperary. This is the 3rd window of funding under the Community Recognition Fund 2024. 

 

The successful projects include new pool and gym equipment for Roscrea Swimming Pool; resurfacing the yard of Dundrum Community Hall; a new all-weather pitch for Clonmel Rugby Football Club; upgrading tennis court facilities and carpark of Roscrea Tennis Club; upgrading playground equipment in Carrick on Suir playground; the refurbishment of Clonmel Rowing Club clubhouse; replacement of ramps in Thurles Skate Park and external renovations to Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams GAA Club.  

 

Commenting on the announcement, Ms Sinead Carr, Chief Executive of Tipperary County Council stated that ‘‘this funding is incredibly important for our communities. I would like to thank all the members and volunteers involved for their dedication and hard work in preparing the applications. As we have done so to date with previous projects, Tipperary County Council will continue to work with these groups and clubs to see the projects completed”. 

 

The Community Recognition Fund was first introduced in 2023 to recognise the huge efforts made by communities in welcoming and hosting significant numbers of arrivals from the Ukraine and people seeking protection from other countries. The scheme is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht and administered by Tipperary County Council. The total amount allocated to County Tipperary since 2023 is almost €2 million.
